Calvià takes its tourism transformation to Europe!
A delegation from the Calvià Town Hall, led by Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual, has carried out a series of institutional meetings in Strasbourg as part of the municipality’s bid to become the European Capital of Tourism 2027.
During the visit, the delegation met with European Commissioners Dubravka Šuica and Jessika Roswall, and also held a brief meeting with the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner.
The visit provided an opportunity to discuss the challenges facing mature and island tourism destinations and to showcase Calvià’s vision for a more sustainable, balanced and regenerative tourism model.
🌿 The revitalisation of public spaces, coastal protection, urban regeneration and tourism innovation are among the projects that have helped Calvià secure a place among the 8 European finalist cities.
On 18th and 19th November, Calvià will present and defend its candidacy before the European jury in Brussels.
💙 Calvià continues to move towards a tourism model that protects its environment and improves the quality of life of its residents.
